Born out of cofounder Mason Spector's struggles with depression, Los Angeles streetwear brand Madhappy is trying to reduce the stigma around mental health one hoodie at a time. Its colorful pieces exude positivity, with words and phrases like "optimism" and "log off" stitched across the front. To promote a sense of wellbeing and community among its mostly young customers, Madhappy has opened 10 pop-up stores in cities like New York and Los Angeles. In August 2019, Madhappy raised $1.8 million in funding from LVMH Luxury Ventures, designer Tommy Hilfiger and the founders of Sweetgreen.
